Third Day: June 21 Versailles and Sleeping in

June 21, 2018 by linesoflatitude

Bonsoir ! Jet lag finally hit our precious girls. They had wanted to arise at 9:30, but alas they stumbled out of bed at noon. I am happy they rested! Holly, Caitlin and Caty took the metro and bus transfer to Versailles all by themselves. I was watching their movement with the ap “Find My Friends” which is amazing. They sent me some amazing pictures of their experience.

Laura, Monica and Kristen discovered Place du Tertre, known for the famous Pigalle artist’s corner and went shopping after their late brunch. Monica came home with some fabulous Parisian clothes.

This evening is the summer solstice musique festival, where the whole city comes outside to celebrate. It is sure to bring us some enthusiastic French conversation, culture and community! Au Revoir for now.

More pictures to come soon!

Second Day: Eiffel Tower and Bike Tour/River Cruise

June 21, 2018 by linesoflatitude

The girls are practicing their French, learning the metro lines, eating fresh baguettes and walking walking walking. Our first stop today was the Eiffel Tower. We exited at the top and walked to the bottom of the tower. sorry the pictures are sideways. I haven’t learned how to turn them. hah!

I decided to stay below on the grass to hold their heavy purses so they could venture to the top of the tower. And they found me through the telescope.

They have shared some amazing pictures from the top. Which I will try to add later. After their elevator lift, they met me back at the grass for baguettes.

At 6:30 they put on their traffic jackets and rode bikes around town. I met them at the Pont Neuf bridge for gelato. They continued onto their tour which ended in a river cruise. I met up with them back at the hotel where they showered and then went out for a late dinner. The jet lag has not kept them from exploring around the city!

I will be adding more pictures as soon as I can get 100 of them to upload!

First Night: Sacre Coeur and Notre Dame

June 21, 2018 by linesoflatitude

Our first night in Paris we had a stroll up the 100 steps to Sacre Coeur on the hill of Montmartre. The view was spectacular. We sat on the steps and watched the sunset. Then we took the metro to St. Michel and strolled through the Latin Quarter and along the Seine River. The girls were in awe. It was dark out, and so they were able to see the Eiffel Tower twinkling. We headed back to our hotel and tried to ignore the jet lag and went to sleep.

LAX to PAREE Day 1 and 2

June 21, 2018 by linesoflatitude

The girls were full of energy awaiting the flight, but once we all found our seats on the plane, and got comfortable, planning our movie list (more than 100 to choose from) the energy went from excited to anxious and as we all found that the seats were horribly uncomfortable for 16 hours!!! We landed in London and had time to explore the Heathrow airport, and with just a bit too long to wait, the girls went shopping and grabbed some food and ALMOST missed the flight. Our hearts were racing as the last call was given and three girls were still missing. But alas, they came running around the corner and we all made the 3 hour flight to Paris. We arrived, grabbed our bags, and a Mercedes Van taxied us to our Hotel. Hotel Clarmont was more charming than the pictures. Three girls to a room, one very narrow rounding wooden staircase connected us all. We are located just north of the Pigalle metro exit, and just five blocks southwest of Sacre Couer. After resting and changing clothes, we walked up the thousand stairs to sit on the steps of Sacre Couer and watched our first Parisian sunset, found a Cafe to eat at, and then took the metro down to the Seine River to stroll past Notre Dame and through the Latin Quarter. Tired, we all decided to head back to the Hotel, only to find the Moulin Rouge is full swing. Shocked, but still interested, we held our purses close and sauntered up the hill home. Struggling to sleep, but physically tired, we all dreamt of tomorrow, in Paree.
